The DATZ Music System is a seamlessly integrated musical study that combines music theory and piano studies, ensuring a meaningful application at every stage of making music.
Many people are taught a scale or a chord and think this is all that music theory is about. Far from it!
One of my students came to me able to compose quite well. She was managing fine until one day she hit a roadblock. And she could not figure out what she was missing. Finally, I asked her how well she knew her scales. She said they were fine and proceeded to play them all. Then I asked her if she had noticed this or that, or if she was able to do various next-step things with the scales. Each question left her feeling a bit astonished and saying she would go home and work on it. This went on for weeks. By the sixth lesson, after the item I pointed out in that lesson, she stared at the piano and said, "This is amazing. I thought I was fine with my scales, yet each week, you say something new and I feel like I'm having an epiphany."
That is music theory. Presenting the information is easy. Learning to understand the big picture and be able to use it on a whole new level is where the magic takes place!
Piano-based music theory; Private lessons with emphasis on piano or music theory or a combination of both.
In classes and private lessons.
Classes are small, with only 6-8 students per class, and are available both in music theory and ear training. Specialized classes such as focusing on just rhythm or just sight singing are available to run with sufficient enrollment.
Lessons for young beginners last 25 or 40 minutes. Standard lessons are 55 minutes. For more experienced students, longer lessons are available.
Note that ear training classes are not available online; these must be either live in-studio or private online ear training. This is because the split-second delay causes no issues one-on-one but is a problem for a group.
DATZ Music System courses are taught online or in person. The DATZ Music System studio is in Las Vegas, Nevada.
DATZ Music students should be at least 6 years old.
Absolute beginner, advanced beginner, intermediate, or advanced.
A keyboard. If you are taking a DATZ music theory course, any keyboard will do including the cheapest keyboards available. If you are taking piano instruction, you will want something better. Many students express how much more rewarding their studies are when they upgrade to a better-quality acoustic piano or electronic keyboard.
Practicing is important. Learning requires review and repetition. Otherwise, what you learn will stick for one moment and be forgotten the next.
No.Overdoing your practice time won't make you learn faster; it will burn you out. Balance is key.
It depends on your level of experience. The more training you have, the longer you will be ale to practice. A beginner will become tired faster. The proprietary DATZ Diagnostic will be used to evaluate your experience level and help determine who long your practice sessions should be.
You may, but DATZ Music System students have found overwhelmingly that they love the musical journey more when they understand music in a way that extends beyond just notes and rhythms.
In the DATZ Music System, getting around the piano is central to learning music theory and ear training. You don't need to play at the level of performing Tchaikovsky concertos, but understanding how to get around the instrument will give you a completely different level of comprehension. And it is fun!
The first step is to complete the DATZ Diagnostic. Then, we will schedule a free consultation to review the DATZ Diagnostic. You can start the DATZ Diagnostic by clicking here.
